Celery difficult?

I'm sure I read somewhere that Celery is meant to be a tricky vegetable to grow?
I was given a packet of seed so thought i'd give growing Celery a bash.
The only difficult thing I've encountered is sowing the seed which I discovered is like dust! Celery evidently needs a long growing season so I sowed if you can call it that at the beginning of February from memory.,
I opened the packet and somehow managed to tip the whole lot out in a oner (350 seeds or so the the packet says), not the best start, much swearing.
Having tried to improve the sowing debacle I then put the seed tray in a heated propagator, not a fancy 1 which you can regulate the temperature just a cheap and cheerful version.
I thought I'll either get nothing or masses of seedlings...the latter!
Once the god knows how many seedlings grew a bit, I potted on about 100 (much sighing) and then had those on a sunny windowsill/s! until it was warm enough to grow on further in my unheated greenhouse (the Celery I'm growing is 100% frost tender).
I have just finished planting out loads of what look like really rather smart Celery plants. I have already harvested a few stalks and they are really tasty. SO if I can grow Celery anybody can as ok I am an experienced gardener but not in any shape or form an expert in growing vegetables.
I will be up to my proverbials within weeks so if anybody would like some Celery feel free to pop in. I love Celery soup so had better make room in the freezer for a mountain of the stuff in a few weeks time. Certainly if you like Celery and can start them off somewhere warm give it a shot.

 

Well done @silu! Isn't it the blanching business that's supposed to be fiddly? Perhaps modern varieties don't need blanching?
For your next challenge, what about celeriac?

 

I love celery but the "blanching business" has always put me off trying to grow it.

 

I've "cheated" and the variety I'm growing is self blanching evidently so hope the crop is still nice once it reaches maturity. I like the fact that you can cut off sticks and the plants will just keep going with no ill effects. Celeriac....well maybe next year.

 

I'm growing self blanching for the first time this year and have just planted 12 plants after starting them in the greenhouse. I tried 'normal' celery a few years ago but it didn't do well despite earthing up.
I'm also trying growing a self blanching one that I've rooted from from the base of one we bought from Tesco about 3 months ago. It's growing well and will be interesting to compare with those I've grown from seed.
