    Peppa Pig? :dunno:

You can buy coloured leg rings from a well known pet store so you can tell Sarah, Vanessa and Jemima apart ;) Oh, an chooks don't mind being called by boys names either, so you could get a 4th hen and call her Neville :heehee:

Aubiose is horse bedding :heehee: It's made from hemp and is very absorbant. It also doesn't make a big stink when it's dirtied (unless the dirt builds up and then it certainly can!). A little goes a long way too and it breaks down faster in the composter than straw does :)
My friends chooks preferred sleeping in a flower pot to their actual coop! One of mine - no names, no pack drill *cough* Buffy! *cough* - likes to dust bath in my pots, after she has cleared it of plants, naturally :wallbanging:

LOL at Zigs spider fags! You have a cruel streak, methinks ;) :heehee:

Once you get your girls, we'll take about your chicken "First Aid" kit ;)

Red mite is a little perisher and needs dealing with every year :wallbanging: Diatomaceous earth is what you want for that. It smothers them. But, you need to repeat the powder application regularly.

Scaley leg is another problem in chooks. No need to buy special "Scaley Leg" treatments. Surgical spirit and vaseline will be your best friends for that (told to me by an farmers wife who had kept chooks all her life).

Coughs and sneezes can be fatal in chooks and there isn't much you can get over the counter to help with that. It would require antibiotics and those can only be prescribed by a vet (who will cost you more in a consulation fee than you paid for your hen: just saying! )

Took one of mine to the vets once,

      receptionist asked "Name?"

      Me : "Zybok"

R : "How do you spell that?"

      Me : "I don't know, i've never spelt it"

      R : "I can't fill the details in if I can't spell it"

Me : "Do you know Spock's Brother in Star Trek 5, The Final Frontier?"

      R : "Yes, I like Star Trek"

Me : "It's the same as that."

        and surgical spirit.

        You'll need a wormer too.

Red mite, scaley leg and worms are the three most common problems you are likely to encounter.

          Good point, loli!

I needed that for a white sussex I bought earlier last year who came with missing feathers and a raw skin (which immediately drew the others as a pecking target :nonofinger: ).

My neighbour brought his daughter round to visit a few months later and was desperately trying to find the "pretty" one to show her  Yup, you've guessed it, he thought I had a white chicken with a purple tail :heehee:
