@Loofah what are you using to hold that growlight please? I have one like it, and apart from hanging from a string, I can't figure out how to keep it in place. Yours looks like a bent plant support

It's a holder for a tablet. It clamps on the table and I detached the head that holds a tablet. Had to position it a few times as the weight pulled it down quite a bit but found the sweet spot eventually.
Got it off eBay for a few quid

I still haven't got around to sowing any  - but last year's are still producing, albeit not looking too happy now.

I have only just sowed mine in a heated propagator, sowed them yesterday, so quite a bit too late as with our shorter season I should really have got them going in January. Well done Shiney keeping your going over winter. Mine always “ kick the bucket”. I presume it is because my house is not the warmest over winter and unlike me they cannot put on a few extra jumpers:)

They're in a heated propagator (set at 12C) in the greenhouse so they get a full day's daylight and are hardy enough to survive at that temperature. Although the temperature exceeds that when the sun shines - which is part of most days and sometimes all day.

Ah that would explain a lot as my poor wee souls I had on the windowsill of a south facing bathroom. During the winter I break the 100 m sprint world record to get into the bath so it’s no way that warm. When I have got my act in gear in January in the past and sown early I can harvest enough Chilli to last me until the next lot start producing. I freeze a good number and while not as good as fresh, they are still quite acceptable.

Bit variable in size and I need to strengthen them a bit. Moved from the lights to the sun room, I may put a heat mat under them with a temperature controller just in case it gets too cool at night

                    Hello all,

My Chillies and Sweet Peppers have all sprouted. It will be a few weeks though before I can transfer them into the greenhouse.

I have the following growing this year....

                    8 x Large Jalapeno
                    8 x Lemon Drop
                    2 x Corno di Torro
                    2 x Romania
                    2 x California Wonder
2 x King of the North

The tomatoes are next in the grow tent when the chillies are moved out but that may be a few weeks yet.

                    Best Regards

                    Ademission

Think I will like this thread as I love chillies (to eat). I had two over-winter last year and kept three this year (including the two from last year, so in its 3rd). So now I only have one quite poorly chilly plant. Not sure if it was just the aphids on them or a combination of factors. No greenhouse here in Yorkshire (yet), so the plants come in doors before the first frosts and go out in June (ish) in a very sheltered sunny spot. Not too sure what plant I have left as there were x2 “basket of fire” – BOF) and a “Poinsettia”, hopefully the former as they are ideal for us (small, but on the hot side). I’ll discover later if is survives, it may well as it’s developing flowers again. This great thread has give me a few ideas, many thanks folks.

I don't know if it's due to bad seed or the cheap heat mat . I'll get chillis either way in the end so I'm not too bothered

I usually sow my chillies in mid to late January and use heated mats to get them going then prick them out and on until they're big enough to plant in the polytunnel. However, it's been so consistently wet and grey here that I haven't sown any yet. I ahven't even got my seeds out of the fridge to decide which to sow this year.

Lemon Drop was a favourite last year. Any recommendations for others to try?

I like mine fruity and warm to medium heat. Don't want anything hot enough to anaesthetise my tongue or frighten the natives who are very wary of spices.

I think that today's picking may be the last of them as the plants don't look too happy.
