@Obelix-Vendée I always liked biquinho as a very mild but flavourful one. Small plants too so well suited to pots. I'm not growing it this year though, I like trying new varieties.

Last year I liked aji norteno. It's very different, really large plants with a lot of space between the leaves. Mine reached 6 ft but I grew them in 30 litre pots. The peppers are flavourful when green too which is good. They are mild too a lot milder than lemon drop which I also grew for many years. I have one overwintered that I just repotted.

I think any of the aji ones that are used in places like Peru or Ecuador are a good bet for what you want. Chilli's on the web have plug plants still if you want to save some bother Over 300 types of Chilli Seedling Plants by CHILLIESontheWEB

They often have money off codes if you sign up to their newsletter but are good value anyway

Thanks very much @Hanglow . I'm in France so can't get seeds or plugs from a UK site but I'll certainly investigate the varieties you've mentioned and see what I can get here.

A great company for plug plants for lots of different varieties is
Pasture Fire, run by a friend of mine, Diane.

I already pre ordered some earlier this year, and they should be arriving soon I guess.

Another good source for seeds is another friend Jukka who owns www.fatalii.net

Most of the ones above are like lava, colour doesn't mean much for any of them

I had good success with Aji Benito last year, as well as Spike, started off in my Vitopod heated propagator..

                IMG_5490.JPG

However I found the thin chillis on the spike plant very laborious and time consuming to harvest as there were hundreds on each plant, and hard to get to as they were so thin. The bullet sized Aji Benito were much easier to harvest. Problem was I kept too many of the seedlings and my greenhouse got over run with plants.

                IMG_7946.JPG

I froze a lot of them and also made candid chillis, preserved in jars. It has a lovely sweet taste but with the heat of the chilli, gorgeous on pizzas, kebabs and with nachos. I even put the on home made burgers.

I've sown Aji Benito agin this year on 8th March, again in the Vitopod and they germinated on 15th March.

@LeadFarmer your Greenhouse looks lovely.... I'm currently in the throws of rebuilding mine, and as such my grow this year isn't as greatly laid out and organised as I would normally be

Thank you. My greenhouse has brief moments of looking neat and organised as below, but those moments don't last long sadly. I need to tidy it up ready for this years growing season

My seeds are sprouting nicely, a couple of days and they will get potted on and the tomatoes will be sown in the prop.

I am with Obelix-Vendee when it comes to chillies so I grow Banana Chillies which sounds an odd name for chillies. Last pack I sent off for had only 8 seeds in the pack but that was enough for me. Have now repotted my seedlings and they are sitting happily on a heated tray in the window of my new summer house.

If the seeds you grow are not F1 remember you can save your own seed for the next year.
