Christmas Cactus Help

    Can anyone help me. I'm looking after this Christmas cactus for a friend as she had to move away for a while. As I was finding it a home I noticed these brown patches on the leaves. They don't feel overly soft. Any suggestions as to what might be causing them and how to fix it?

    This pot was sat in a decorative pot on a slightly shaded fireplace prior to coming to me

    Looks like just natural ageing of the stem.
    Its going woody at the base.
