Steam cleaning a timber frame with wattle & daub infill, in a fire damaged medieval cottage.

I found a human vertibrae deliberately hidden under one of the uprights, the site dog went mental when he went near the hole. Spooky.

    More ritual protection i suppose.

Reset floor in St Brannocks church braunton, the long slabs are an honest repair to replace victorian heating grills.

:dh: I too have found similar on & around our church & roof Ziggy, but a dead body no............................................!!!!

That is such a sad story... His parents must have been besides themselves in the wait till they found his body.....!!!!!!

So so sad Zig even if he was drunk....!!! The poor parents.... Was he led there suffering in agony of a slow death....?? The parents must have & maybe still are enduring agonies over it all............:(

Life ain't half queer & cruel Ziggy...... :(

Tis terrible Marley, can't believe he wasn't found sooner. Probably didn't know much about it, lets hope.

Feel for the parents and the church warden too

Yes so sad... Ziggy & so unnecessary too I feel...... 'Tis the people left behind that find it so hard.... So many unanswered questions....
I know our Church Warden well & if he was to find such a gruesome thing it would destroy him I am sure...
I hope his soul is now at peace.........

Ziggy, the company I work for used to make church clocks in years gone by.
The clocks would have the name J Smith & Sons of Clerkenwell.

    Reviving an old thread here.
Popped over to the churchyard in the village where I grew up a few days ago, (anniversary of a family death and all that).
It's one of my favourite places for quiet contemplation, a peaceful, secluded country churchyard, away from the main village and surrounded by beautiful meadows and trees.
I can wander around the churchyard and count five generations of my family among the names on the gravestones, as well as many other names familiar from my childhood.
On this particular evening, the late sun was creating some magical lighting effects, so glad I took my camera.

Daughter came along too, by my reckoning that made 7 generations of us, either above or below ground in that churchyard on this lovely spring evening in May.
    Now that is family history.
