Clematis

    I tried to find the thread I'd mentioned this clematis in but had no luck, so I've put it here, can someone ID it for me please. :)

    My brother gave me this last year and I didn't expect it to survive as they don't like my soil or situation. It vanished over the winter, but surprisingly it reappeared a few weeks ago and is now in bloom.

      The one i can see in google pics like it is ...Alpina helingborg ? worth a look x

      It is an alpina type, but not sure which one.

      C. Helsingborg is much darker purple and single flowered.

      yeah theres diff flowers if u just search alpina helinborg, it prob isnt the one but was info i found so i posted sorry x

      Actually looking at it again I am wondering if it is not a C' macropetala type, something like Pauline for example.

        Thanks Joolz/Palustris. :dbgrtmb: It does look like Alpina Helsingborg. I'll study it a bit more on the web later.

        Just pointing out that maybe 1 or none of those seeds will come out as the picture shows as I wouldn't of thought many (if any..) growers would go to the trouble of creating a clematis cultivar that comes true form seed when they take so readily from cuttings.

        not to poo poo the idea of buying mixed seed from eBay as I'm sure they will be some interesting and varied plants but just to make you aware that unless a cultivar is known to come true from seed then it could come out like anything:spinning:

            It is aesculus,im learning all the time on here,its the most reading i do and it actually sticks :blue thumb: i should of explained that it was just a ref for sheal sorry x
            maybe she might collect some seeds from it and sees what pops up :wub2:if i creep enough :WINK1:
