Climbing red rose

    I planted David Austins "Parkdirector Riggers" last year it is a striking single red repeat flowering and vigorous It has no much in the way of scent tho I chose it for the colour and was not disappointed. ;)

    If you have space for it, the rambler felicite et perpetue has a lovely scent, and is a mass of tiny flowers on a massive spray, but unfortunatley, like most ramblers, not a repeater :( And not red!! Mostly white, but with a hint of pink

    Guinee is a climber, deep red and highly scented.And a white rambler,a favourite of mine,Wedding Bells which fills the garden with it's sweet smell of....dreams! [​IMG]

    Thanks for all your replies and advice.

    I also like Guinee, Paladin but on the David Austin site it says it's difficult to grow so I thought being a beginner with roses maybe I'd best not start with that one :eek: but it is very striking and just what I'm looking for.

    so maybe I should just go for it.

    People next door but one have just planted several De La Haie, as well as rugosas, so that'll be lovely through the summer - must walk the dog past there regularly!! :D
