Yes, I have all slow close seats and the one on the main floor incorporates a fold down toddler seat. Wih they had ones with the clapper and totally touchless... a clapper crapper :)

@Vince one important thing my lawyer pointed out was that if there is someone in the family you do NOT want to get anything, you must state it in the will so that they can't file a claim insisting it was an oversight.

mine reads "xxx is not provided for because I have not seen or had a meaningful relationship with xxx for many years" I know it sounds brutal but you don't want to hurt the ones who deserve your stuff or have them face a legal battle.

        An excellent point!

Just a cautionary tale but my father in law's mother passed away a couple of years ago and the solicitor they had used for years, including in the drawing up of the will had gone and lost it! Turned into a right pain to sort it.

Also if you have no one to leave your estate to, other an your other half and vise- versa, make sure you do leave it too someone etc, just in case something happerns to you both at the same time, if you don't want next of kin to have anything

This is why you need advice.
Our wills are straightforward, each to the other, then equally to the kids. But we still got a solicitor to draw them up, we have copies and they are registered.

Upsy, as some have said, solicitors will keep Wills if made through them.
Here, a secure safe is my chosen place for my Will. Close family know both the content and where to locate it:)
Make your Will ASAP Upsy. Take your time, consider how you phrase your Will (make a draft or two on rough paper first) and make it clear who you want to benefit from it. You will need witnesses. It really is simplicity personified :) Peace of mind too Upsy :)

Here in East Kent, some Solicitors are offering a free Will service for a donation to the Pilgrims Hospice, so helping a great cause.

It's also important to have something like this in case you die unexpectedly.
Mine's in my ICE file (In Case of Emergency) along with other files in a steel suspended file cabinet.

Without it my wife wouldn't have a clue, "where the money is hidden."

Thankyou all for the advice, I'll get a will done and POA on behalf of Carol. Also, there is a nephew I wouldn't give my nose droppings to, so I'll make sure he's excluded.

                    Once again, thank you all.:bigthumb:

@Verdun thanks for getting back to my post.
That was my suggestion to hubs about keeping in in the safe but I wasn't sure if it had to be kept elsewhere for any legal reason. Ours is as straightforward as @Doghouse Riley, so shouldn't be too complicated.:)

@Doghouse Riley that link is very interesting...what a good idea! I would be in the same predicament as your wife I think as hubs has our money in so many different accounts and is constantly moving them to better ones too!!:)

This has happened twice in our family due to the solicitor's firm shutting down. We could not track down the original of my father's will, the successor firm could not locate it either - this caused lots of trouble, expense and heart ache. Same thing happened to the Power of Attorney which was even more trouble as we were unable to do anything for months whilst he was unwell.

If you can keep your own documents safely and securely I think it’s best to do so. A fireproof, well anchored safe is worth it :)
To be able to check documents whenever you want to is useful :)

Wonder if this is actually the same here in the UK ?

We had our wills drawn up and made the point that we did not want anything going to a particular sibling, but the solicitor did not deem it necessary to include any such words, just clear instructions as to who get what , as we wanted.
