Went down to the south coast today, been going to Seatown for 40 years, never seen the mudslides so bad before.

A bit collapsed while I was there, I ran away. Dread to think how many bodies are under it:hate-shocked:

Seems like it has gone back about 5 metres Ziggie , amazing and frightening coastal erosion. I was on the IOW many years ago at Blackgang Chine . They had pictures of it in Victorian times and it must have eroded back half a mile since then.
Its the opposite in the north west , went to Southport and walked along the pier. It was about 1 mile long , it was high tide , and we were still 100yards short of the sea !

Not quite as bad this end Zigs, apart from the slide at Swanage there hasn't been much but the SW Coastal path is closed in some places as a precaution, some of it only a metre from a sheer drop.

I think a lot of the coast path will have to be re routed after all this, the bit at Seatown where I pitched my tent in 1976 has gone.

Wonder if anyone will find any good dinosaurs underneath it?

I did start looking for the tell tail black bones, but thought better of it, don't want to become another missing person like the woman who's dog came home alone covered in mud:sad:

Did find a few Ammonites on the beach though. PICT0080.JPG
