Just bought some 'bulbs' of this today, half price. They were from pound stretcher, so the packet is the usual generic 'will grow in most types of free draining soil'! Google reveals very little, apart from their common name is spiderwort and they're desert plants originally. Can anyone shed any more light, particularly as to where they'd be best planted? Here's the packet http://www.flickr.com/photos/22351913@N07/2467288537/?rotated=1&cb=1209998982553 and here are the 'bulbs' http://www.flickr.com/photos/22351913@N07/2468119060/ Thanks!
Hi I have....or rather did have!...... Commelina growing in my garden. It flowered really well for a few years and did spread alot but on the past few years it has all but disappeared. Maybe it is my acid soil and the fact that they were planted in full sun, I am not sure. Sorry i cant be of more help
I have some Commelina in my garden, which is neutral to acid soil. I planted them in semi shade, and they are fine; I gave some to my neighbour and she grows them in full sun, and they run riot. We find that they come up very late- each year I think I've lost them, and then there they are! Such a lovely blue!
