I have a small container pond with a few aquatic plants in it. Should I clear out all the fallen leaves from it that have sunk to the bottom?

Me too. The smaller the pond the more important it is to keep it as clean as possible. Leaves left in it will rot and cause a nasty, smelly ooze as well as depleting the water of oxygen.

I agree about being able to plug the holes...

We had a water feature for many years where the hole was plugged with an old port cork. With the stopper inside, the water pressure pushed it in, rather than out.

Maybe you could go container-hunting with a collection of whisky, port, etc corks in your pocket, and find one when "the stopper fits"!

Haha :D I like this idea. Especially as I need to amass those corks first. In fact, brilliant idea!
