Have you heard Nigel Kennedy playing Hendrix?

For me it's the Who, Stones, Queen plus Elgar, Tchaikovsky and Bach.

I mainly listen to classical stuff now and recently bought my new grandson a classic cd for babies which he loves [IMG]

My Dad loved Glenn Millar so his music rubbed off on me too.

Dendro, forgot about half of Lynyrd Skynyrd dying in a plane crash! Even t'other half didn't say when we were talking about Chase and LS are on the top of his list!

We remember a concert in the Tennessee State Fair in Nashville when LS headlined and the promoters were to do a big firework display after the concert. However, something went amiss and the fireworks began when LS commenced their encore ... what followed was a 45 minute extended version of Freebird in a firework fog!  LS was not about to give up before the fireworks ended!

We know it was not planned as t'other half was working for Sound Seventy, the production company responsible for the concert and not the fireworks. An excellent concert! [IMG] [IMG]

Don't worry, LoL, we won't hold it against you......

I'm not a fan of any one band, group or singer - I like a lot of things.

My first favourite was Don McLean (singer not "funny man"), followed by so many I just can't remember them all!

Was it you, LoL, who remembered the Enid, my friend's brothers' band?

Yes, Dendro, The Enid is music we have but only on cassette tapes they sold directly with a personalised tracklisting card which says Dear Mr & Mrs LoL ... !

Thanks, Pal, glad I have friends out there! [IMG]

T'other half's favourite artist, and one whom I quite like also and whom we've met, is Walter Trout ... I have a Trout Begonia named after him which has been up on GC several times! [IMG] T'other half says that Walter Trout is without a doubt the finest blues guitarist of the past and current century.

Phew, it's difficult talkig for two sometimes!

    Hi, Marge!
Everyones' heard the duelling banjos - that's one of the best-known things, and there's that film I mentioned a while ago, with George Clooney - "Oh brother" http://www.amazon.com/O-Brother-Where-Art-Thou/dp/B00003CXRM
That's not 100% bluegrass -more old-timey, but it's pretty close. June Carter Cash was one of a leading family of bluegrassers, with the snazzy band name of The Carter Family, and a lot of the major country singers (yes, you're right, it's not that far away from country...) play bluegrass for their own pleasure, e.g. Emmylou Harris, Ricky Skaggs, and even the afore-mentioned Dolly Parton!

I'm jumping in here, marge ... Flatt and Scruggs, but I "think" Dendro will agree with that ... but I know she'll have more to offer! [IMG]

Gogs, what do you mean "stealing" my topic ... this is everyone's topic of what you like in music ... I just started it off .... [IMG]
