Out of curiosity what is the current cost per litre in your area? The cheapest for unleaded near me is, 176.9 and 188.9 for diesel. Prior to the government reducing duty by 5p i can't recall the last time I fueled up at one of our local BP garages, they were always the dearest by 3-5p per litre, yet over the last couple of months they have been 8-10p cheaper than anyone else for unleaded, makes you wonder if the other garages passed on the cut in duty at all.

I haven't dared to look for a couple of weeks  Last fill-up was €1.2199/l for diesel. Traditionally cheaper here than petrol, but not any more.....

The last time I bought petrol was in May and it cost me 175.9p/litre. I have no idea where it has been since then.

That is so much cheaper than the UK, the last fill up a few days ago cost me £1.99/litre diesel which is €2.34 ! We are being well ripped off.

To be honest I rarely look at the price per litre I just fill up, I'm going to use it so what is the point.
I've heard prices should be coming down due to the price of oil dropping.
I need to fill up soon but the week before last at Morrisons it was over £1.91 a litre.

Severe senior moment, JWK  Just checked with OH and it would have been €2.2199/l and that was when the government were subsidising it! It's gone crazy again now, heading for €2.50/l. It's a good job that the grass has died, 'cos it's either/or the car or the mower now :loll:

And I was about to post on the Facebook haulage page about the cheap price of diesel in France, I would of probably had to emigrate there in fear of the lynch mob if I had..:phew:

It's a killer, gks, not just on a personal level, but as we all know, it pushes up the cost of everything that needs to be transported. You have the advantage there of living on a small island :)

The fuel cost crisis is entirely unnecessary.

During the first covid lockdown, crude oil prices briefly went negative. As in intermediaries were paid to take and store the oil because it was cheaper to do that than to shut down drilling and pumping.

At the same time, tech companies saw their share prices rapidly inflate, as people realised that many in the IT and service industries could work from home. And yes, I'm well aware that not all jobs can be done remotely. At my work we produce veg oils. The guys in the factory have to be there. Forklifts and trucks don't operate themselves. But those people got to enjoy quieter commutes.

Then Boris said we should all go back to the office, and oil prices went straight back up, along with the rush hour congestion and pollution.

People seem to have already forgotten about all that, the same way they've forgotten that before the pandemic the main topic of concern in public consciousness was the environment.

I am at just under three-quarters of a tank but I will fill up on Friday as that is the car's anniversary and I always top up and do a year-end audit.
I use 97 RON E5 as I am doing so few miles it makes little difference to the cost. I used to fill up two and three times a week until we moved here. Now it is once every two to three (or four) months. Halved my insurance costs too.

Petrol at our local Gulf station has dropped in price twice in just over a week. It is currently £176.9. Tesco has been the highest almost throughout the price hike and still is at £191.9. Diesel prices are much higher but I haven't taken note of those recently.

Filled up about 10 days ago 188.9p at Asda. Not sure of the current price, as it is predicted to come down by 20p a litre over the next couple of weeks. One thing I noticed was that the Asda / Tesco price became the same as the big BP and Shell garages, why could they not maintain their lower prices of a few pence per litre?

Good to see it's coming down. Let's hope the gas and electricity prices rises are curbed too.
