      As I needed to be up early I've barely slept. So here's a few that saw me through the night;

      Bronski Beat.....................

      As an aside, it reminded me of the following video. A street performer in Berlin was performing Small Town Boy and Jimmy Somerville walked up!

      After leaving Bronski Beat Sommerville was one half of The Communards. This was THE dance floor anthem in the nightclubs during my wayward youth................

      I love this next video. As Agnetha mimes to this song about the mundanity of an ordinary everyday life you can see how sick and tired she has become of the ABBA life. This was the last song that ABBA ever recorded...................

      There were two great bands to come out of Oxford in the early 90's. Everyone knows about Radiohead but Ride split far too early and are largely forgotten.

      The big break for Ride came when the lead singer of The Jesus And Mary Chain heard their demo and sang its praises to the bands label Creation. Like Ride The Jesus And Mary Chain have been largely forgotten by the masses. Sad as they were one of the best bands around in the late 80's and early 90's. @fat controller may remember them.

      One band who won't be forgotten is Echo And The Bunneymen as the lead singer (Ian McCulloch) will tell anyone who will listen that they were the greatest band of all time................

          @longk - thanks for the blasts from the past! I do remember Jesus And Mary Chain, although I must confess that I could never claim to be a fan as such.

          Thanks also for the Abba vid - that is my favourite Abba track funnily enough, but I have never seen that video; you can almost see the feeling of isolation in her eyes - such a shame.

                    And finally for now, one that I have two reasons for enjoying - the first because its a such an enjoyable song to listen to, but more importantly because it is my lovely mum's favourite and she used to sing along all the time when I was a nipper (I was practically weaned on Abba and Boney M!); even though she is hundreds of miles away at the moment, I can still hear her singing along in my head.....

                      Have to admit I love Abba too, love their music, probably stemmed from my childhood and my mum listening to them :)

                      Recently stumbled on this song though, both the original

                        Nice one @Bilbo675 - they are a new one to me. A little like Radiohead meets Mumford And Sons.

                        I must listen to this at least once a week...................

                        Another great Thom Yorke collaboration................

                        From about the same time comes one of my favourite REM tracks..................
