I still have my first driving licence, issued when I was seventeen, my first passport, issued when I was nineteen. I did have my membership card for Ronnie Scott's first club, membership number 7, but can't find it at the moment. It cost 7/6d to join, it's over £300 now.

I have two box files for them, 'Electrical' and 'Non-electrical' - and those files include guarantees and handbooks.

Looking above what @CanadianLori states. I would have to say, we keep all sorts of items due to our yearly tax processing needs, which is kept for 7 years.

Yours was a lower number than mine as I didn't join until about eight months after it opened (I joined in the summer of 1960). I joined the 100 Club at the same time (think it was still Humphrey Lyttelton's Club at the time).

I answered an advertisement in the Melotdy Maker before the club opened. For a while you had to take your own bottle of wine as the licence hadn't come through. At the time, my future wife and I still teenagers, were shacked up in a flat in Soho. Ronnie Scott's was free entrance for members during the week. So we spent a lot of evenings down there as it was warm and cheaper than heating our flat. Sometimes when it finished late we'd go to the fruit and veg market in Covent Garden, where the pubs would still be open, then onto a workers' café for a breakfast of door-step bacon sandwiches and an enamel mug of tea. Then walk home, have a wash and a change of clothing, then walk to work, as we both worked in the West-End.

@Doghouse Riley the only times I ever stayed up all night was if there was a medical issue in the family that called for me to attend throughout the night or a few times, an all night poker game... :)

There's a lot of different things I would do when I was nineteen, which I wouldn't do now.

Though I did stay up until gone 4.00 am last Sunday, watching the Superbowl.

Just placed an Amazon order a few minutes ago, had to keep opting out of a 'free' trial of Prime, and it still tried to force it on me, so I had to go back and reselect to get rid of it, then continue with order (and taking screenshot). They're really pushing it.

@Doghouse Riley I also, in the 50's and 60's, used to go to Le Macabre in Meard St, La Discotheque, La Bastille (they were into French names ) and The Flamingo in Wardour St, and The 2i's and Heaven and Hell in Old Compton St.

Can't remember the names of the others round there.

When ordering on Amazon , it is so so easy to take out a "Prime" subscription by mistake . The ordering page traps you into it . It's easy to cancel , without charge , if you do it within a few days . Lots of people will not know they have subscribed though.
Poor Jeff Bezos is down to his last $150 billion , so he needs a few more members
