Sorry, still not sure what you mean. Do you mean:

a) On a social level, does PM activity make the forum more 'alive'
b) On a technical level, does PM activity affect the forum's credibility and ranking from a search engine perspective
c) Something else

M,Do you mean does the content of the PM's put an extra strain on the forum with all the extra info that it has to deal with storage wise?

My laptop is now over two years old and is getting slower and slower and Mr Kandy says one of the reasons is because I have so much stuff on there ie photos and information that I keep saving I am rapidly filling up the disc? space so not sure if that is what you mean?

 

If we're all pm'ing each other instead of posting on the main boards then yes, but I think we've got a healthy balance of both going on

Lmao. This is going to be one of those discussions that don't quite get started isn't it?

For my two penny worth, I find that private messaging often throws up ideas and thoughts that can then be put into the main forum.

 

Or are we thinking does private messaging add to individual post count?

 

Perhaps "M" means that maybe more interesting stuff gets talked about via pm and never reaches the main forum so the rest of us don't get to discuss it. Hopefully "M" will come back and elaborate.

Just had a look in my inbox. I've got 3650 pm's going on, one of which has got 2,700 messages in it, so there is a bit of chat going on behind the scenes
