Looks like he's got the Republican nomination for the Presidency.

That's as sensible as electing Corbyn as the leader of the Labour party.

Is the world going stark raving bonkers?

My votes going to Monster Raving Loony tomorrow - they're all clowns

Well, it just shows the desperate straits of the political circus in America at this time when they, the Republican thinking public, vote en masse for a extremist who, to me, has built his facial expressions during a "speech" on those of Mussolini who, while appearing farcical, was a catalyst for disaster.
The fact that the Federal Government and Democratic President has been unable to take any real decision due to the Congress and Senate being controlled by the Republican Party is another factor that appears to have led "the American on the street" to become really unhappy/angry with the present ludicrous political state of America. So everything political seems ripe to let a man like Trump on the loose............God Bless America!!:coffee::snork:

First let me say, I dont like Trump and his money.

But, and its a big BUTT:biggrin:, as they say in America.

I just think people are fed up with professional politicians, they only say the right things, creep around, not wanting to step on anyones toes because they know their job is on the line if they say one word out of place or offend any one section of society.

Its unreal how politicians have to pussy foot around these days, no real issues get dealt with because of the PC brigade, and I just think Trump is one of the consequences.
Worrying that its been allowed to get this far, but it might just give the other gutless bigade a good kick up the ass.

@pete, I have to disagree. Obama has on many occasions made his feelings and intentions clear. Including, quite publicly, telling a significant proportion of the American public that they should be ashamed of themselves.

His predecessor, George Bush, would have probably done the same, had he been capable of stringing a coherent sentence together.

Maybe telling the public they should be ashamed of themselves is not really the right way to go, do we want to be talked "down" to by our politicians?
Trump is talking them "up", and it seems to be working, rightly or wrongly.

I quite liked George Bush senior, George dubya, was another thing.

I don't think Obama ever told the American public that they should be ashamed of themselves, Pete. But what he has done is stuck to his guns [pardon the pun] on the Gun Laws and wanting to restrict the use, [and failing] of them, he's also pushed through the Healthcare Bill much to the disgust of the Republicans. I've never ever seen a speech of his where he has backed off a controversial subject or been condescending but I have seen him frustrated when unable to push through a simple, sensible law because of the Senate and Congress being Republican controlled.

Yeah, but you see Obama's problem was, they didn't like him enough, if they did, he would have had full control.
So in other words, much like here, he only appealed to a minority of the population.

The so called Democracy of the western world is failing fast.

Even in America where they have a more democratic system than we do.

Mrs T's is a American and she stunned by the way the Republican American's have believed this idiot.
I keep winding her up, on how thick her country people are.
She's a big supporter of Obama, on what he has done pushing through health care.
If i had Trump's money I think I would buy a new wig.

You're right, pete, the Republican thinking public will never like a Democratic President or one who isn't White, add to that that a lot of the States don't even like a Federal Government, the racial extremists, the ones who would like to go back to there being a North and a South, those who think taking a gun to school is a good idea. And you've got a country that's stuck politically in the past whilst still professing to be forward thinking, being the land of opportunity, racially unbiased, and all the while the outside world can see a different America. Don't get me wrong, I like America, it's full of good people and ideas but right now, politically internally, it has lost it's way and, in my opinion, is in more trouble than they realise or will admit.:coffee::snork:

A borderline psychotic egocentric sociopath. I weep at the thought that political circles are now so pathetically theatrical and playground like and these people control nuclear weapons and everyone's lives.

I don't really believe Trump will make it to office. He'll either falter, get stitched up at the polls or have a few grams of metal hit him in the head at high speed.

Yeah but isn't that how it all works.
One side does not agree with the other.
Who the hell am I to say they should not carry guns, its down to the people who live there to decide, its called democracy.
Its a big place, with a very varied population, you cant compare it to the UK. We are a minor out post of the EU, and Obama thinks that is wonderful.

But I think the UK has also lost its way.
