    Dust if you must!

LADIES!!! [IMG]Remember...a layer of dust protects the Wood beneath it.

    'A
house becomes a home when you can write 'I love you' on the furniture.'

I used to spend at least 8 hours every weekend making sure things were just perfect - 'in case someone came over'
Finally I realized one day that no-one came over; they were all out living life and having fun!

    NOW,
when people visit, I don't have to explain the 'condition' of my home
[IMG]They are more interested in hearing about the things I've been doing while I was away living life and having fun.
If you haven't figured this out yet, please heed this advice.

    Life is short. Enjoy it!

    Dust if you must .......

[IMG]but wouldn't it be better to paint a picture or write a letter, bake cookies or a cake and lick the spoon or plant a seed,
ponder the difference between want and need?

    Dust if you must,
    but there's not much time . . . .
[IMG]with coffee to drink , rivers to swim and mountains to climb , music to hear and books to read, friends to cherish and life to lead.

    Dust if you must,

[IMG]but the world's out there with the sun in your eyes, the wind in your hair, a flutter of snow, a shower of rain. This day will not come around, again.

    Dust if you must
, but bear in mind, old age will come and it's not kind. . .....
And when you go - and go you must - you, yourself will make more dust!

Share this with all the wonderful women in your life.

    I JUST DID.

    It's not what you gather,
but what you scatter that tells what kind of life you have lived.

Thank you for that Marley Farley.
It's so true but I'm afraid I'm a duster. I can't bear to have the house in a mess.:(
However for the people who have the courage to leave the dust it's said it never gets any worse after 7 years.
I swear I know people who are trying it.:D

Never mind the dusting ... I'm still waiting for the Ironing Fairy to come along and magically smooth my pile of clean but crumpled washing.

I can remember a cartoon in the paper, must be over thirty years ago and thinking of it still makes me smile.
    A husband and wife are visiting the home of another couple. As the door is opened and the visitors are being greeted, the visiting husband is saying;

"Ah! The smell of polish.... brings back memories!"

When the three kids were at home, after washing and ironing their clothes, my wife would leave them in neat piles in their rooms on the end of their beds for them to put away. On occasions when told to tidy their rooms before dinner, "the naughty one" would sweep the pile of clothes into the laundry basket at the end of his bed!

One of my Daughters is so house proud she continually cleans. she is always polishing and dusting,in areas were there are no dust . when we sit down in her kitchen for a cup of tea ,( with her smokey glass table)
and smokey glass coasters to match the table, she will lift the cup and give the table a wipe ,just in case i have made a dribble :old:. changed days from my childhood i had an aunt who had 2 cups and two plates and you had to wait your turn to get a cup of tea or a meal:D. believe it or not, my daughter had a hoover out her back garden hoovering the hedge to eradicate SPIDERS:scratch: music .

:rotfl: Oh Kids Music.... It was very different when I grew up to today's youth to Music.... To me growing up was a far less troubled or pressurised time It was the beginning of it although, late 50's & early sixties were a boom time, but today they have so many pressure upon them they do not have what I call a real childhood of innocence & then growing up.... Children a young as 6 are under pressure these days... At 6 Life was innocent & just opening.. Not the same today..... So much Peer pressure....

Jings Doghouse! Have to laugh at that now.
I had a daughter who did the same stuff - put the pile of ironed stuff back in the washing rather than put it away !
Today, she's a duster, Her house is immaculate.
But she's a happy welcoming person.

Isn't it just the case, very untidy at home, but as soon as they get their own house they go "all houseproud." Not our daughter, she was always tidy, but our youngest son.

About eight years ago we had our house completely renovated so went to stay a few miles away with him (he was at the time on his own in his three bedroomed house) while the work was carried out. We were there for eight weeks.
    After six weeks the conversation went like this;

"How long will you be staying?"

"Well, you 'stayed' with us for thirty years."

"Err.. Would you like a cup of tea?"

although I love dusting and the smell of the wax spray, I have got my childen dusting for me these days (meaning: lifting a lot of dust) and I have a list of endless tasks multiplied by three before I get to that.
Like now really I should prepare my suitcase ready for the journey to Italy next week...
