        I was born in the 50s and can also remember the concentrated orange juice and cod liver oil too. Hated school milk as it was always luke warm....probably why I don't like milk !! Yuk!

          I remember orange juice, it was almost a luxury then, school milk was ok, but often the cream had gone off a bit in the summer and it was solid in the winter.
          Virol, haliboringe, codliver oil capsules.

          Dont think any of it was necessary as we always had fresh, good food, but I think it was all a hang over from WW2.

                      I think they usually let them go home each day and that's when they only let them out late. For us to get out at all we had to saw through the bars.
