Interesting read there Becky, thank you. I agree with you , you have to watch them like a hawk. They pluck figures out of the air and they don't write down my readings (we have 4 not 3 ) and put them in the correct boxes when I phone in with my meter readings. I've had "fun" with Customer Service at EDF a week before Christmas and they "unpicked" the last two results and corrected them.
As you say, many where I live don't have PCs, or cannot read their own meters as they are at the back, in dustbin cupboards that you need to get on a stool to read with a torch!
We cannot switch suppliers as the Complex is tied in with a "Warmwise" set up with EDF.
Yes, many of them here must be scraping the bottom of their savings bucket now and pennies matter to them.
    Enough rambling,
    Happy New Year Becky,
    Jenny

Just to highlight what a mess these Smart meters are, we had them fitted about 2-3 years ago, and they have been trouble free, but now we are looking to switch suppliers, seems ours, Smets1 types, cannot supply the meter readings remotely to the new supplier !

So because many suppliers now insist you must have smart meters to be on their good rate tariffs, it means the new supplier will have to fit new meters ! ( at their cost)

What we do not know is if they will fit , or if they can work in our area, the newer Smets2 meters or will they just fit their own Smets1 meter.
That said seems there is some comment about even the Smets2 meters not being 100% compatible with all providers ??

Just seems madness and such a waste to have new meters fitted every time you want to switch and save few pounds !

          Hi,

I've just received an email to say npower is merging with E-ON. Can I expect problems shortly? :dunno:

          Kind regards, Colin.

I've been with E-ON for the last couple of years and no problems Colin. I'll be keeping an eye on things though with this merger.

Several years ago I switched from Eon to Npower. You can't win whatever you do.

I looked at the Octopus prices and liked them but, for all their good price tariffs suitable for me, they insisted on installing a smart meter. I've changed to Simplicity energy who have a very good price and no meter. :blue thumb:

Some years back I was in dispute with NPower (for someone else) and was getting nowhere. so I told them I would start charging them for wasting my time. I eventually sent them an itemised bill for £800, which they ignored. So I issued a summons, which they ignored, followed by sending the bailiffs in to their H.O. I received a cheque the next day :heehee:

                Hi,

Top marks shiney. I'm pleased our npower payment went to a worthy recipient.

                Kind regards, Colin.

What would happen if you had a smart meter fitted and then made a lead lined box to cover it.:)

Just been on the Brit Gas site, they say they are welcoming customers from Breeze Energy.

Apparently Breeze Energy have "gone up the swanny" and the customers have been passed on to british gas by Ofgem.
Far too many tin pot energy companies around for my liking.
