Empty Dianthus/Carnation Buds

    I have perfectly formed buds, but they are empty!
    Is this caused by a disease or a pest?

    Hi David Unfortunately I cannot help you very much but a friend of mine did mention awhile ago that he had a similar Problem with a moth caterpillar which eats the petals from within the bud leaving you with an empty shell.Hope this is of some help to you:)
