@Logan I discovered that what we call microfiber clothes are great for keeping the top streak free in between polishings. I don't know if you call them the same name or not... let me find a pic...

I also use these on the face of the fridge, the oven, stainless steel, etc. On the cooktop/ceramic surface, I wash the top first with mild soap and water to get any food spills up, then wipe with the microfiber cloth. No streaks :)

@CanadianLori thanks yes they're the same here, very good for cleaning delicate things. Hubby bought some so he could clean the tv,so i borrowed a couple one for putting the cleaner on and the other to wipe it dry and polish.

The 2 men who delivered it and took the other away, just lifted them up and carried them in and out through the front door.

Just had what i thought was a disaster at the time with my ceramic hob. I was doing some cooking and was trying to keep the hob clean, so i got the micro fibre cloth and started wiping the hob. I didn't think at the time and wiped the ring that i was using and melted the cloth on it.
Hubby was very cross with me and so he should.

Googled how to clean it and i found out that white vinegar will do it. Soak a thick layer of kitchen towel with the vinegar, put it on the ring and let it soak for 15 minutes, it came off straight away.Might have needed to repeat the process a few times.

Hubby said that you can get replacement glass for the hob,or the entire hob for just £20 more.

I forget to mention after the vinegar, remove it with the hob cleaner for ceramic and it should come away easily.

Inspired by this topic I have today deep cleaned my gas oven. Thanks to Shiney, it was actually nearly a fun task, I crouched on all fours, singing "Volare" and even attempted a seductive wobble with my nether region. Sadly, as I'm not very shapely, that didn't give quite the impression I had planned. Well, at least The Teenager is traumatised for life

Two things learnt: 1) The inner glass of the door that warns you to slide the glass back until it clicks actually slides out for convenient cleaning. Please tell me that I'm not the only person on the planet who didn't know this after several decades of scrubbing the glass on my knees. :frown:

                              2) Next year my Christmas present to myself will be a professional cleaner to do the oven and other nasties. That's a money well spent, looking forward to it!
