Financial Scams - BE ALERT

If I get a call from a number I don't recognise, I pick up the phone but don't say anything. The vast majority hang up after a few seconds. Others will say 'Hello' and when I respond with 'What do you want' will hang up.
The problem is our GP surgery which always used a landline number which showed as 'Doctor', now they mainly use mobile numbers so have to answer any unrecognised number if you are expecting a call from them.

 

I 've just had 3 dodgy phone cals today, all now blocked
1 i new was dodgy because the number was 15 number not 11
number is 004917513209125 even google didn't know of it

 

When it is 15 digits it tends to be international, 49 is the dialling code for Germany.

If you do have a grandkid and worry they might really be in trouble, hang up and ring them on their known phone number to check.

 

I spoke to my mum and she said that my grandmother was almost scammed by the same scam we are talking about now (ie police wanting cash to check if it's counterfeit), or the one I read linked above anyway. It turns out it was far longer than tens years ago though, so it's very frustrating that they are still pulling the same tricks.
