Oh, it is lovely, Kandy, and look at the detail! I bet you are proud of it! You must find a good place in your new conservatory to display it. After being hidden for millions of years, it now deserves to come out into the light for us Johnny-come-latelies to admire.
Hi Kedi,this slab was in a batch of slabs at one of those places joining the local garden center that sells large rocks,large pebbels and slabs.This one was the best of the lot so we decided to buy it.It has been standing outside all winter so I had to put the hose pipe on it.It would be nice to display it or to have it encased in glass or pespex and make a cofee table out of it.

Brilliant Bob.I am learning so much about other peoples finds. I love the shell that is attached to the piece of rock,but in actual fact they are all very good. I didn't realise there were so amny of us that actually owned such magnificant pieces of the past
A nice collection, Bob. Whatever is the 7th one, it looks too perfect! I see you have some sharks teeth, I must put mine up now that you have reminded me. The ones you bought are lovely showpieces, the fish is excellent.
I found this in Carvoeiro, Portugal, up around Algar Seco. Sis has shown pics of the area now and then.
Kandy, I dont know hardly anything about fossils, its just that your paving slabs looked like something I've seen before. There is something strange how it stops in a straight line on one pic. And it looks like you could remove it with a stiff brush. Looks a bit like lawsons cypress to me. :D
Oh, I'm not sure if that was clear, the top pic is just a postcard. I just have the jumble! We found them all on Venice Beach on the Gulf of Mexico.
Hi Pete,when I went out to take the photos yesterday that slab{there is only one,but I took two photos of each back and front}The slab was standing against the wall and had quiet a lot of mud on it that had splashed up onto it over the winter and I had to take our hose pipe to it on the jet wash bit.Only the mud came off.I don't really want to take a stiff brush to it because Mr Kandy and I like the effect It is nice to hear other peoples ideas as to what caused the pattern's so I think it will remain a bit of a mystery for now :rolleyes:
I think Clearwater Beach was too far north for finding sharks teeth, Bob. Venice Beach is touted to be the best place for finding them. We went there just to have a walk along the beach, didn't know anything about sharks teeth at that time, and saw lots of people walking along and picking things up. I finally asked a lady and she told me what they were all collecting. So I started looking and insisted that Hubby look too. My collection is from just an hour or two looking. There were shops there that sold all sorts of sharks teeth and jaw bones (and postcards :D ) and some of them were fantastic.
