    Hi

My GD toms seem to be doing very well so far - but too well? They seem to be growing out rather than up - i.e a but bushy.

Is this OK? Or should I start trimming off some lower trussed to encourage upwards growth?

Should I start feeding? They've been in gro bags for about a month now.

    Thanks!

I remove the side shoots between leaf stalks and the main stem and pinch out the growing tip after around four flower trusses have developed, this ensures that all the fruit grow and ripen. I feed every 10-14 days with liquid tomato food. I wait until first blossoms have set, then I use liquid tomatoe feed. I never fed before as I read that this will just encourage excess foiliage.

    Thanks.

Sorry, clearly I'm being a bit thick here, but I'm not sure what you mean by 'between leaf stalks and the main stem' ... aren't all sideshoots between the main stem and the leaves?

And where's the 'growing tip'? I've always found this a bit confusing.

    Thanks again!

side shoots are between the main stem and the leaves. The growing tip is the top of the main stem.
