Does anyone know where I can buy Garrotta in large sacks. The best price I have got is £4.79 for 3kg. If I could buy in bulk cheaper it would be great.

No I have never seen it in anything bigger than 3kgs maltaron. A compost accellerator is really a a method of ensuring a massive increase in the bacterial population of the heap. You do this by adding a high nitrogen source.

In the garden centres you can by Garotta in powder or liquid, but it is cheaper to buy Ammonium nitrate, as this is essentially the same thing.

You can use urine, though I would dilute this before application, for better spread through the heap, and assuming the smell would not be a problem. You must not use urine if you are growing produce for sale.

In addition to a nitrogen source, bacteria dislike very acid conditions, so inclusion of a liming agent such as calcium carbonate is beneficial.. So hope that helps you out..
