GC - you are being watched!

"A massive government database holding details of every phone call, e-mail and time spent on the internet by the public is being planned as part of the fight against crime and terrorism. Internet service providers (ISPs) and telecoms companies would hand over the records to the Home Office under plans put forward by officials.
The information would be held for at least 12 months and the police and security services would be able to access it if given permission from the courts."

Well, what do we think about this little idea - how crazy can this government get?

The recording of phone calls and text messages started last year in Britain. Legislation to do the same with emails and internet access is expected to come into force this year.:thumb:

We are watched were ever we go by CCTV, the chip in the car wont be long coming so your personal movements can be tracked.
So its inevitable that they will want to know what we are talking about as well.

I'm glad I'm not young anymore, freedom has gone, there are so many things you cant do now that you used to do.
And its not as if its all made life better.
      If anything its worse.

Its almost like living in Hitlers Germany, except the crime rate was lower there.

Yeah suppose it was a bad likeness, but I was thinking more along the lines of the secret police, our police are so secret even the criminals cant find them.
And they dont even tell you the time, these days.
But thats probably because they dont know themselves, too busy catching NASTY motorists.:D

I don't like it. I wouldn't mind if things like crime etc was on the decrease but it's not.

          cheers

Dave, are you legal, have you NEVER done anything that the law says you cant?
          Dont list them.:D

But I bet there's nobody out there than can truly say they have not comitted an offence at some time.

Lets face it, there are so many of them these days.:)

It's not a case of being legal, lawful or whatever to me, it's a privacy thing. What i write or say in private to 'whomever' is exactly that - private. If i wanted to have anything seen, for all sorts of people to view or listen to (and don't try and tell me that they are all professionals!) i would write it somewhere like this or facebook or speak about things in a pub, whatever.

          cheers

If you want to keep your own business private, don't use a mobile for speech or text and stay off the Internet. Whatever you think the law says, all messages are stored and can be acessed if required. Can you imagine the amount of storage space to save all that lot and I suppose it's all of us who are paying for it!
