The Gardening Club is doing a joint rose order from a rose nursery near Angoulême. I was sent a big list and couldn't resist! 6€ off the price of each rose. I've ordered 11 roses. 6 will fit into beds I already have but I'm making a new bed for the five others and I'll plant perennials in between.

I have ordered - Nostalgia, Hot Chocolate, For Your Eyes Only (have one in Norfolk and it's super, Bjay gave it to me), Chandos Beauty, Chippendale (which I think is Duchess of Cornwall in the UK), Rambling Rosie for the arch, Eyes for You, then 4 small Persica roses for the rather dry Donkey Paddock border, Bravo Babylon Eyes and See You in Apricot.

Persica roses, single flowered mostly, with a dark eye, were bred from wild desert roses so they are OK with dry soil. The first five roses will go in the new bed.

I have a question for rose experts. A friend budded a Jude the Obscure for me this summer, as we both liked it in a neighbouring garden, and DA don't do it any more. However, in a garden centre this week I saw Natalija. It has similar apricot globular flowers and excellent perfume. (And cheaper because it isn't DA). Has anyone grown both and can tell me the difference please?
