I don't think there would be much point .
Do you really think they would be interested.
It took them 3 days to visit my Dads neighbour after her house was broken into.
I can't see them driving round looking to where fireworks are being let off.
They shouldn't be sold in the first place.

I did call the police once regarding the same problem, as my neighbours , although not immediate neighbours, had a party which went on for HOURS: one firework after the other until at least one o'clok at night.
At the time my children were very young and not only they would not sleep, but they would cry frightened.
I did expose the problem to the neighbours around midnight and seem to have no effect.
I then explained it to the police which said to me that basically being a private party and no damage etc they were not supposed to intervene.
So I just had to enjoy it all!
I definitely think that there should be some rules about the abuse of fireworks.

It may not concern the police but it would concern the environmental health. They are the ones concerned with noise nuisance which is what it is.

The office may not be open at the hours when the problem occurs, I seem to remeber that I had contacted them as well

I never though about the environmental health.
We had a building site in the next street to us and the builders were burning some trees and rubbish . They put something on it to make it burn and there was thick black smoke and bits flying everywhere.
The smell was choking, the environmental health soon sorted that out.
They were there within an hour or so.
The people next to it had called them when the builder refused to put it out. The builders got a warning.

You wouldn't believe it, but so far tonight no fireworks, it is raining so we may have a night off.

I think if you ban fireworks it will be just the same as when they banned hand guns, the responsible users were affected but the bad element carried on as usual, if not worse.
It is the enforcement of the laws that count, I think there are already laws to prevent the use of fireworks after certain times, but how do you enforce them.
Personally though I must admit that the fireworks on sale in most stores these days are far too powerful for use by the general public and on sale for far too long.
Where are the Health and Safety morons that tend to poke their noses into all things we do these days, I think they need a rocket up their arses. :D

They shouldn't be sold to the public they are not resposible enough and as we know law enforcement on these issues is non existant, official public displays with all safety measures in place is the only answer.

There is one thing governments are good at Lyn, it's passing laws. Unfortunately they can't enforce them. I won't get political by saying that this Govt. is exceptionally good at passing laws it can't enforce. So I won't say it.

That's right John, I applaud you for not saying it [IMG] [IMG] and I won't comment on it either :D :D
