16" now, grown another 1" in a week, but there is 4 weeks left at most, then they stop growing. 20210727_112550.jpg

Mine didn't live up to expectations this year, the exceptionally wet spring seriously hindered their growth so I am well short of my personal best. Harvested on 28th Aug:

The best Kelsae was 17" circumference and 1.135kg (2.5 lbs):

The best Ailsae was 14.25" and 0.661kg

The best Red Mammoth was 5.25" and 0.17kg

Next year I will give them more protection from rain with a plastic cover.

Somebody on a neighbouring plot bought some small, tatty looking Kelsae onion plants and when planted out (rather late) they got most of their leaves eaten by rabbits. I thought they might die, but they grew a few more leaves and struggled on in ground that had received no special preparation, and the biggest one was ....

          17" circumference
