    hi all,

had to tell you about this that happened last week.

bit of background before i tell you so you may understand why i could have been so stupid as to think this could happen - i haven't had a proper coat for years, we are quite poor now, we are happy & are not starving so don't want anyone to feel sorry for us but.......

went to shopping centre place last week, Wallsend for any of you geordies out there, & while my hubby went shopping for bargains (food) i looked around charity shops etc. i was looking for a jumper or cardi, or a coat.

met up with hubby & dragged him into this (non charity) shop & said look Ã?£22. no reaction. or this one i said, Ã?£30. well, he said, maybe next week. so, being a martyr [IMG] i put a brave face on & we started to walk away.

passing the last shop before the car i said you go on, I'll just have a look in here.

went in & there it was a lovely little coat (I'm only short so can't carry a long one). looked at the label.....£10. What????? £10 i thought, must be a special. ran round to car, dragged hubby back (we have a store card with this shop i have to add, you will realise why in a minute). Tried coat on, lovely, hubby said it was too. at last, ok he said. get to check out.

OK said the assistant, that will be Ã?£60. What, i said, i thought it was Ã?£10. i was dead serious but i think it took her a moment to realise this. then as i went redder & redder, i looked at hubby. he was red too [IMG] Ok get it he said.

on the way out i had a look at the label on the coad that said Ã?£10. It wasn't the coat, it was a top underneath [IMG]

Anyway, my husband has forgiven me & i love my coat. i've actually been out (only post box etc, don't go out much, another story) in it 3 times already!

how sad is this story. all you out there that will be getting all sorts this christmas, let me tell you, to me nothing will beat my coat.

this is a happy story. sorry if it's been too long. just had to share it

    cheers

Dee - how did you get 2 for £60? looking at your photo, you can wear just about anything so it's easier for you. i look like a 'phlump' in most things :D

are they both black? i liked the look of an off white one but it would be black with dog hairs before i got out the front door!

wallsend seems to be going downhill again unfortunately. still, can get some bargains if you shop around. Probably get even more if you go into town, but i can't stand it so i am willing to pay 1p more for local stuff [IMG]

    cheers

Dancing queen, yeah that's what i thought [IMG] actually i did! it was meant for me. i love it.

You know what though, we have a dog (as you may know from other posts), and she comes everywhere with us. so our car is full of dog hairs. it's usually ok cos there's only the 2 of us (+ dog) in the car. With my new coat though, and it picks up every hair going - what was i thinking [IMG] i said, oh i'm not sitting in the (driving) seat. i'll put a cover on. this cover is from the house, cost at least Ã?£40, but i wanted a cover. so Joyce, when she's left in the car usually sits in the passenger seat when left. Not this time, she's all over the cover.

now my coat looks like a version of her.

    i will learn, eventually

i still love my coat, but i love my dog more so can't moan too much.

Just don't tell my husband :D

Happy Christmas & all the best for 2008.

    cheers
