Going to try hatching for the first time, advice?

    As far as i'm aware it's very difficult to sex a chook in the early days...that's the only thing that has put me off having chicks (not personally i might add)...i'd be worried that i ended up with a brood full of fellas.....and i aint having them upset my lasses:biggrin:...plus i'd want to keep them all and i haven't got the room....still waiting for that lottery win:dbgrtmb:
    Having said all that i have a menopausal hybrid (bit like me really)thats been sat on half a dozen eggs for most part of the day and every time i went near her she growled like a tiger:yikes:...now she's either having trouble laying or she's going all peculiar...(know the feeling)i always take the eggs out earlier but i always get a few straglers....i'll have to keep an eye on the fiesty madam:chicken:

      I emailed the woman I bought the eggs off and she has kindly offered me 12 free eggs next time they get broody :dbgrtmb:

        Hi Loi some types of baby chickens can be Autosexed by the colour of the plumage , but I dont think you can do this with Ros's ?
