An Unnamed Peer was spotted leaving a Taxi waiting outside Parliament while he called in to Register for his daily allowance.
He was spotted jumping out of a Taxi just outside the Peers entrance,he ran in,presumably to show he had attended, then ran out again while the Taxi fare was still running.
The daily rate is £300 for Peers..
There was also complaints, allegedly , to the Lords Authorities after the Peers Luxury T/V Room was turned into a working office. :cry3:My Heart Bleeds For Them.

I do not know how many Lords there are in the house of lords, but there are more than 'Ten Lords A Leaping' at £300 a day + expenses. :yahoo:.

It Is A Costly House To Upkeep.:frown:.

Yes. The whole concept of a house of lords is outdated and offensive.

In any other section of society, or any other situation, if someone said this person is more important than you just because they are, that would be totally unacceptable. Yet we accept it in our so called democratic system of government.

In this day and age, we are constantly told that we achieve things through our hard work and determination. Yet right at the top, the house of lords is indisputable proof that that's a load of tosh.

We mock India for still having the caste system. Yet here it is in the UK.

In my view, they are more selfserving than the riff raff in the Commons.

The 'Lords' have rejects from the Commons, ex MPs who failed to get elected last time plus a load of hereditary unelected chinless idiots.

Well, there has to be a counter balance to the House of Common, but sadly the House of Lords has been abused by Politicians rewarding their friends leading to 760 members which is far too large, half that number would, I think, be more acceptable.
We also know that some of our MP's have been abusing the expenses, accommodation, etc allowances to the full limits for ages and when that was exposed all hell broke loose. But the problem to me was not that the MP's were abusing the system and travelling on the Gravy Train but that the "higher authorities" knew what was going on and turned a blind eye ignoring it all.
The same abuse in the House of Lords has been going on for decades and again the "higher authorities" knew about it and chose to ignore it. A Journalist on the TV made me grin when he described the House of Lords as the "Best and most expensive Day Care Center for the Elderly in the UK."..........but, unfortunately, there is more truth in that than anyone in Parliament would care to admit, after all the promise of a life long "extra" to their already large pensions must be too good to refuse.
It's going to take more than that one "revelation" of an abuse of the House of Lords system which, after all, was known to those who could have taken action, but chose not to,
for years and years. The Establishment will close ranks and try to pacify, patronise, talk down, resist any move to make them restrict the ways of gaining monies for nothing. There are some members of the House of Lords who, while not admitting it, think that the Country owes them the right to guzzle and swig from the vessel of the Gravy Train and they will fight to the end to defend it.:coffee::snorky:

Next the lords will be invoking ,Droit du seigneur ("lord's right"), ("right of the first night"). And having their evil way with our maidens
The Lords is in effect a quality control , final audit department . How many company's have a quality department (760 members) bigger than the production shop (the Commons 650 MP's ). It needs cutting to about 200 !

Although I do see maybe a need for a second look and opinion on subjects which go through the house of commons,I do think that in this day and age a bunch of unelected, dozy individuals is not really the way to go.
Surely a new system needs to be brought in.

In fact our whole parliamentary system needs to be sorted out, modernised and brought into a more democratic way of thinking.
Only problem is they would probably appoint one of this bunch of aristocratic elitists to do an inquiry into how it could be achieved.
It would then run on for atleast 10yrs and cost about 50 billion.

I think we as ordinary people are pretty much screwed, the class system in this country will never be defeated.
Even the railways still have first class carriages:snork:
But you dont get there any quicker.

Fraud is a crime for outside the Houses Parliament and Lords. Inside those Houses, if found out, it's known as genuinely, honest, error in financial statements.:whistle::heehee:

Why we are on the subject, although slightly off subject.

Has that mindless little twerp, sometimes know as the speaker of the house of commons shown his face recently?
I did notice that after his silly little outburst a while ago he seemed to disappear.
