Such a long time since this was utilised!

Goodnight and sleep well all our GC friends, but most especially to @moyra (as she instigated this theme/thread) who I know may find sleep a bit of a challenge at the moment.

I'm going to tuck in too, but, that's so I can catch up on our Reading Group book and snuggle under the duvet instead of turning on the heating :heehee:

Don't let the bed bugs bite ;)

I've got the heating on, and I'm going to bed.

        I like to live dangerously.:)

I tend to put it on when its cold, not by the time of year.:)

Trouble is so does our daughter, so we turn it on the day before she returns home from uni for Xmas, then slowly turn it down so it's off by the time she returns.

I remember being brought up in an old Victorian Terraced house after being born in the mid fifties and in those days we had horrendous weather and as my parents couldn't afford to heat the house with a large growing family so many a morning I woke up to the net curtains stuck to the inside frosty windows:yikes: When you have no body fat on you,you tend to feel the cold more brrrr,

So since I have been married and have lived in two houses with central heating already installed,I would rather spend the money and be warm than sit in many layers shivering because we want to save a few pennies. We go without other things so we can afford to pay the bill:snorky:

Although Mr Kandy refuses to allow any heating on in the bedroom and we have to have the trickle vents plus the windows opened slightly all year round so I tend to have a nice faux throw on top of the 15 tog winter quilt and Mr Kandy is ok as he only has to put up with it when I chuck it off of me onto him in the night:snorky:

Sorry I've forgotten what the question was?:snorky:

Me too, we have these new fangled contraptions called thermostats, so the heating turns itself on and off. I noticed it must have switched itself on this morning because when I sent outside it was nearly freezing and I was still wearing my Bermudas.

                          What does 'sleep' mean?

We've got those thingies as well. :dbgrtmb:

We heated our house with coal :heehee:

Cor! That was posh - having net curtains :snork:

When I was a lad... :snorky: I had to scrape the ice off the inside of the windows most winter morning. That was after I had gone downstairs to get a coal fire going before my parents got up (had to creep down eight flights of stairs :rolleyespink: - other people living in between, and my room was right at the top of the house where I could play with my toys all night and not disturb other people). That was my job from the age of five - when I got big enough to hold the newspaper over the fireplace to 'draw' the fire.

Coal! You could afford coal? You must have been well off. Several people in this village take their young kids to the woods collecting sticks and fir cones to burn, making them walk back home because their pushchair is full of free firewood. One woman used to still push a pram to the woods when she was in her 70's.
