Got lost using a sat nav

    I have just been watching the programme Horizon, which was about gravity. They visited the Sat Nav headquarters in USA, where it was explained that according to the Theory of General Relativity time in a satellite runs very slightly slower than on earth - because there is less gravity. They have to make continual allowances for this by resetting the satellite clocks. If they didn't Sat Nav would be out by 12 kilometers every day [​IMG] . So, when you get bum instructions, blame it all on Einstein. :D

    Why didn`t they design the clocks so that they ran slightly faster to compensate? [​IMG] [​IMG] :D
