The boss had watered the grass after spreading them and we had had two nights of rain before I spotted the grass turning yellow. I just put gallons of water on to try and dilute the poison. Not that I think I could have raked them up. I would have needed to use a fine comb. The pellets are about 1.5mm in diameter.

That's a shame. Fingers crossed that the roots might have survived.

I noticed in the this thread the idea of growing you own turf in seed trays, I tried this acouple of years ago and found that the grass grew well but when I tried to transplant it I had difficulty in getting the turf out of the seed tray. I have now been told that I need to turn the seed tray over onto a board that is about 1" bigger all round than the seed tray and then just turn the board and turf over at the place where you need it. So I have sowed the seed and it is just starting to germinate so I will know in the next few weeks how well the system works.

Also make sure it's well rooted before trying to get it out.
You need to mow it 2 or 3 times before transplanting. ;):biggrin:

I had given the pot of seeds I planted out a couple of trims with the kitchen scissors before planting it. And the roots were through the bottom of the pot.
