    @Joshmyers
    Patience: at this time of year they could take a fortnight or longer to germinate.

    Hi and Welcome to the forum,

    As @NigelJ says in this colder weather it could take some time before you see any signs of green shoots.

    Also with all these heavy rains the last few days the seed could be washed away ?

    Did you just scatter it on top of the soil or rake it in lightly which will have more chance of staying in place.

      I raked the garden roughly an inch or two scattered the seeds and then went around and pressed them all into the soil by walking around the garden, thankyou for the reassurance, i was just hoping the seeds haven’t just died

      Most grass seed doesn't usually germinate under 12C.

        It's a little early for grass seed. I would wait until the night time temperatures are getting up to 10°c. I had a lawn makeover last June(hot!) and the seed took 10 days to show. I do find grass seed germination annoying it struggles to start on my lawn, but springs up between every crack on my drive !

          The seeds won't die, they will germinate eventually - it takes a couple of weeks normally for them to show and will be a little longer in the colder weather at the moment.

          So will the grass be here for the summer? Or am i looking at next summer before the kids can play in the garden?

          @Joshmyers Yes I would expect the grass to be here for the summer. However it will be on the fragile side and easily damaged; so I think next year before the kids can play on it.
