Tricky one that Nick , My jasmine grew to 6ft in a season , but i then found out it was now defined as a Solanum ( potato family vine ) . My virginia creeper is now 5 years old and it looks great - great choice for your folly :dbgrtmb:

Good morning Folly Mon my friend,
If it's any where near your horse manure it will take off like a rocket I think. Nice to see you as I haven't seen you posting for a while.

Should make for a good start to the jasmine at least. No idea about growth rate but I planted one myself a couple of weeks ago and its already got new shoots on it so looks like it could be a good grower!

My winter flowering jasmine grows about 5 or 6 feet a year and can go really really bushy if left to itself...when you trim it back though you can take tons of cuttings and just stick them in a cup of water on your windowsil and they will root as simple as that (dont even need root hormone) then you can give em away as random little pressies for friends and family :)

12 - 24 inches can be a bit conservative. I had one either side of a walkway and it grew into an arch in just a year so it depends on the plant if they are happy or not. Talk to it! It took me ages to do away with it when I got fed up with it cos it just kept on growing.
