I know it's tempting fate but I can still go down the shady end of the garden without getting bitten. I assume it's the cold spring. It's an ill wind ......

I have. I don't know what did the deeds - I rarely manage to catch them in the act - but something outside that flies judging by the locations and timing of the bites.

Bitey things, of course! Whatever nips you when you're grovelling about on hands and knees digging out weeds :itchy:

On a similar note. There's a clump of what might be nettles in the neglected shady bit but I'm not game to touch them to find out. I understand nettles are good for butterflies or something so I'll leave them just in case.

Attacked by a dog on Easter Monday and still having the wounds dressed after antibiotics and tetanus jab. Terrified of dogs now.
              Midges I can cope with!

@BB3 on both my ankles. Dressing had to be changed every 2 days at my surgery but now I can do them at home. Horrible time.

How awful. Strange it went for your ankles. Was it a small dog?

Rare for me to get bitten, but last year I found out about these little biter blighters ... BUT before you go killing them, they also eat baddies.

It's a "Flower Bug" and they are only 3-4mm long, but boy what a bite they can give you. The bite itself is not too noticeable, but they can itch like hell and take days to stop/go away. As the name suggests they like to go on flowers. I was simply clearing weeds around the flowers when attacked.

I got bitten by a couple of harlequin ladybirds a while back. They must've thought I was a peeping Tom.
And, of course, in the ladybird plague of 1976

                      Note nettles bite.
Ladybirds do taste revolting, have swallowed a number while cycling or running over the decades.
