I've got an old bit of radiator hose, which I managed to push onto the gutter. It has a useful 90 degree bend, and then a 45 degree which makes a nice spout.

Old orange-juice containers (the blue ones) ought to do for a water butt - probably only £ 20 - I expect they can be found on eBay, the trick will be to find something near enough to you that it is worth going to collect. I would recommend getting several, and then putting hose between them (you can connect at the bottom if you are handy at plumbing, but just as effective is to make a syphon-type connection between them).

If you do this I recommend putting one inside the greenhouse (if you have room) because if you use that to fill your watering can it will already be warmed-up to the greenhouse temperature - and connecting them in series such that the butt you draw water from has the oldest water, and the one at the gutter has the newest.

Use kristens link and if it doesnt fit then bodge it with a small square of flashband tape or a bit of roofing felt and bitumen mastic

I found my water butts at the tip!
They had cracks in the bottom but OH managed to seal them with gutter sealant/mastic. Work a treat!
I managed to cobble together - with cable ties/duck tape - a drainage system that does the biz using a bit of drainpipe about 2" across and a couple of angled corners......
