Now that is very clever :D They could have used nearly invisible fishing line instead of string to support them - but as you said Miraflores , how the hell do you water them

It`s very simple , get a jar with water and deep the plant in , the ball is made off spunge and moss , usually suck all water in .

I swapped the moss ball for coconut , for the simple reason that when I put my moss ball outdoor the birds took al the moss away for nesting.
try to take the coconut shell away :WINK1:

My problem with coconuts is that I cannot open them easily, even with a hammer. Otherwise I quite like the taste of them, although not terribly keen on the milk.

I have kept some of the shells and used them at the bottom of pots and they are still in a perfect state, after over one year!

You need a carpenter saw , start to cut the top off , when you are half way trough tip the saw and a perfect lead will come off , get a spoon and scoop off the coco out , (you can froze it and use in summer for icecream ; ) , fill it up with moss and wood chips , put the bromeliad in , after 4 weeks it almost impossible that the plant will come out..... the roots will grip on the shell.
seen this system in Thailand , they where growing orchids in pots made out coconut fibres and tigh them on trees .....

the big bromeliad is one of them on the wall , will need 3 more coconut shell for next year , plus the thai water pot and the hallow log bot inspired from thailand , got many other pots ideas but absolutly no time at the moment. I`ll may put some of the coconut for swap in spring got too many now.
