Looks like a con to me. Googling some of the phrases on the site, which are worded sufficiently "bizarrely" as to be uncommon, the exact same phrase comes up on a number of sites of dubious purpose.

    Here's one (about Daffodils):

"If this fact is ignored and enough depth is not given then the Daffodil will bend down very soon"

exact same phrase appears on a dozen, or so, sites. Either stolen, or the sites are owned by the same outfit. The "English" suggests to me that it is either mechanically generated (mashed from some other site(s)) or is a mechanical translation of a proper site - Dutch perhaps.

The only reason I can think of for having a site offering Free Plant that is NOT for that actual purpose would be to fish for Email addresses to sell to Spammers.

If you have the use of a one-time, throw-away, email address then you could register and see what's what once registered - but my suggestion would be to avoid using your real email address.

Kristen - I think the technical expression is 'Marketing opportunity' - 'con' is such a vulgar word. :D

I have just had a look, it doesn't allow me to click on the 'sign up' button - I suspect that they have no intention of letting anyone signup. Its run by a Mr. Rajendra Chhetri who seems very keen to sell advertising. I suspect that the only freebies that it is giving away is allowing you to read their adverts for nothing. It says that you don't have to be a member to get free plants - just visit the different pages and click on the 'Click Here', which as you said gives them your e-mail and name and address. I suspect that advertisers are told that if they pay enough they will be sent the information of people who are interested in plants.

That's an interesting exercise Googling long bizarre phrases - I couldn't believe how many sites said the same thing. I think you could have some fun and in the middle of a description of a particular plant add you own bizarre statement - and then see how many times it is copied. I think we should have a prize for the most successful. :lollol:

Worth checking phrases in your site(s) for plagiarism, and adopting a bizarre writing style :)
