          An awful question given how lovely they might be, but if we trim them at ground level will they die or keep coming back? We have cats that chew plants...

          They will come back and are also difficult to get rid of.

          On the up side, cats are normally very savvy on what is good for them and what is dangerous - unlike dogs who don't normally discriminate between them.

          Unfortunately, lots of plants are dangerous to pets and it's very difficult to remove all of them.

          Here are some of them (I think they must have a couple of hundred on their list of outside plants:-

          Got to try to remove them, our cats don't go much further than our garden and LOTV is just to risky to have around.

          Will try cutting back and covering first.
