I find that story a bit worrying.

What was the chap actually caught doing? According to the article, he was caught giving somebody a lift, and using a cash point. I should probably be in jail by now because I've done both those things many times.

Ok, so the person he was giving a lift to was a prostitute. Is that proof that he planned to use her 'services'? I once got into a good (civil and intelligent) conversation with a young lady (probably early 20s) who 5 minutes in admitted that she was a prostitute. Should I have been done for talking to her? The reason we'd got chatting is because she was on her own in a dodgy part of Middlesbrough at night with a fresh looking black eye. My mate and I stopped to check she was ok and to ask her if she wanted someone to walk her home or stick around til she could get a taxi, we were concerned for her safety. She was on her own and had clearly just been brayed. We chatted for a good 10 minutes before she sheepishly said that the black eye would 'affect her business' for a week or so, and then explained what her business was. At this point, my mate and I should have probably turned and walked away. That is what society would expect, but to us, regardless of 'profession', she was still a young woman alone in central boro who's already been whacked once, so we stuck around until she convinced us that she'd be safe (we weren't 100% convinced, but we couldn't do anything more). Had I have been driving (I wasn't, I'd had a skinfull), I would have had no qualms at all about giving her a lift to somewhere she felt was safe, and that would have made me as much a criminal as the chap in the article.

You did the right thing Clue :dbgrtmb:

I agree, Britain thinks its taking the moral high ground by keeping the oldest profession illegal, which means in reality its forcing very vulnerable people out onto the streets with no protection at all.

Damn sure that its not a job someone would do if they had a different choice.
