alana.....I am so very sorry but this is NOT Potentilla repens...common name creeping cinquefoil.
The leaves are wrong.....it has bright yellow flowers...no sign of those.
Potentilla repens is a thug it has 5 leaflets arranged like a hand with 5 fingers...there are only 4-5 leaflets in that pic that are a match.

I am seeing round flower heads/ seed heads..are they from this plant?
Or from something else such as Allium obliquum???
      Are the leaflets silver underneath.

      Kegster where do you live?
      Below is your image trimmed.

      Hi Silver surfer,

the globe-shaped flower heads are attached. The leaves are green on their undersides. I am reliably informed that the flower does open to a yellow flower. I am trying to ID this for a neighbour and we live in The Midlands in the U.K. Thanks for taking the t8me to investigate this for me.

OK many thanks for quick reply Kegster.
The green leaves and flowers have eliminated my thoughts.
      Interesting.....I am stuck for now.
On no account weed this out until we have id 'd it!
When the flowers open do please add a very clear close up...thank you.

This has really got the little grey cells working overtime.
      I really hate saying ...
"alana.....I am so very sorry but this is NOT Potentilla repens...common name creeping cinquefoil."
without suggesting a better solution...but last night I was struggling.

I am guessing this is a very low growing plant..going by the size of the Forget me not.

The only flower buds that seems to match with what I am seeing is Acaena sp

Have a look at Acaena novae zelandiae...leaves seem OK. from what I can see.

He he...couldn't you find one with the petals still attached?
All that is left is the calyx!

      Hmm!
Argentina anserina syn Potentilla anserina...common name silver leaf.
That was why I asked if the leaves were silver underneath
The answers was ...".The leaves are green on their undersides.
I am reliably informed that the flower does open to a yellow flower."
additionally .."the globe-shaped flower heads are attached."

Flounder plant id is based on the flowers....A. anserina flowers are yellow.
Have you had a look at the tiny round headed flower as seen in Kegster pic?
I can see at least 9.

And isn't silver leaf a lot more glaucous on top too compared to the first photo?
