Hello, I grew these from seed two years ago, I kept them in pots until now so that they would be strong enough to plant out but with the last few days there is a limey type of coating on the leaves. Can I save them. Is it a type of fungus, what can I do for them. Help greatly appreciated.

Are you sure it's not where the hard water has dried on their tops?

Lupin leaves can be a bit hairy so often tend to have a bit of a white sheen.

Not sure myself from the photo, I think it could be either of the two above suggestions, whatever, I dont think it anything too drastic and the plants are likely to grow out of it once planted out.
Just water well, if the ground is dry, when you do.

Kerrygirl, your lupins have mildew. Your soil has prob dried out a little.
I would make a reservoir around your plants and water well. Let it drain away. Water well again. Feed with a granular fertiliser like fish blood and bone or use pelleted chicken manure then mulch.
I would not bother to cut off the affected leaves just yet but I would be inclined to wipe them and give them a seaweed or epsom salts spray :) When growth is vigorous again then you can remove them

Thank you all for replying. Yes Verdun they dried out, they also got attacked by greenfly three weeks ago and I sprayed them twice. Would this have left them distressed. I noticed this evening that they are not as limey looking but that could be because it was fairly breezy today. I also see that some of the leaves are dropping off. Are they a threat to my bedding plants? Your advice is appreciated.

No, no threat whatsoever. You say "limey looking" so give them a dose or two of epsom salts. Lupins can suffer in too alkaline conditions.
As I said water and feed kerrygirl :)

Thank you so much. I've been so worried, you've put my mind at rest. Yes I will get some Epsom salts tomorrow. Your a star.
