This arrived today but it's wet out :yay: so I can't pot it at the moment but will send a photo when I do. This is a picture of the flower when it was on the plant, which I have received bare rooted from Spain.

Updating this thread further, I am including two other species ...

Hibiscus syriacus French Cabaret Double Purple ...
                    H syriacus French Cabaret Double.jpg

I also have one done from seed, not sure what colour but possibly Single Purple.

Hibiscus mutabilis (Confederate Rose) which changes colour from White/Pink/Dark Pink and can also change from Double to Single.

I am hoping all will bloom this year, all developing leaves now.

I love those vibrant colours @Victoria . I have one that I need to bring indoors for the Vendée winter. It's a soft gold colour with a deep red centre but, as the weather warms up, it become a vibrant sunset colour. It lives outdoors on the terrace once night-time temps are reliably above 12C here.

No flowers at the mo as it had become huge so I gave it a severe pruning when I brought it in last October. They do only last one day but mine is prolific so that's OK.

@Obelix-Vendée Hbiscus are probably my favourite flower because of their uniqueness and variety of colour and shape.

For pruning you can take them back one third, and lightly at any time of the year to tidy them. I would love to see yours in bloom. The new varieties can bloom for three days.

Thanks @Victoria. This one was a cutting from a friend over 10 years ago and I have no idea which variey it is. It was always golden when we lived in Belgium but a good Vendée heatwave turns it fiery.

It'll take a while but I'll post a photoo when it does bloom again.
