Most years we're quite happy to find a good holiday cottage somewhere in the UK, and go walking and explore the local area.

This year however, we will be celebrating our silver wedding anniversary, so we're treating ourselves to the holiday we've always wanted.
We will be spending two weeks driving through the Canadian Rockies. :hapfeet:

I probably know and have seen more of Rutland than some one born there, Dai!! I was stationed at Midland Radar, RAF North Luffenham, just outside Oakham in Rutland for 7 years. I always take a camera with me, what fisherman doesn't?!!!, as we're always ready to take a pic of the one that didn't get away. Where we fish, along the River Nene, Welland, Ouse and lakes you just don't see many people but you do see the wild life!! You must go to Rutland, Dai, but not for a day, go for a few days. It's the smallest county in England, has the biggest man made reservoir, some lovely thatched cottages, great countryside, and as a last touch has the late great Geoff Hamilton's Barnsdale there. Oh, and coming from where you're coming from.......bring your passport.:heehee::loll::D

No holiday for me this year, but I'll have to make a trip back to Essex to see my mum, she's quite frail now. It will cost £300 ish just to get me and the car off the island and that's not peak time. :thud:

Only thing we have booked is CentreParc in Suffolk, my youngest will have finished school for good in June so we have been able to book outside school holiday time to make it cheaper :yess:

Hoping to go to the Isle of Wight in May then Scarborough for a short break in early summer then maybe Looe later on in the year.
