Horseradish is out..!

    Marley Farley's right, it can be very invasive. Years ago I grew some and it eventually got away from me when I wasn't looking. It took me 10 years to get it back under control. Then I had an idea!!! I dug up the rest of it and planted it all the way along the grass verge towards the village - about half a mile of plants dotted along the road. Whenever I wanted horseradish I use to walk along the road and dig what I wanted - some of the neighbours did too. Two years ago the gas board had the cheek to run a new gas main along the verge and most of horseradish has gone.

    I found the best time of year to dig it was October.
